Liver Disease

Hepatitis B

At Sydney Norwest Gastroenterology we LOVE the liver and manage all forms of liver disease. The liver is the control centre that is responsible for co-ordinating and processing much of what is absorbed via the gastrointestinal tract and it can be damaged by any number of environmental, immune, viral or metabolic insults.

Through experience at the Storr Liver Unit at Westmead hospital, research and PhD studies, we have the knowledge and the resources to thoroughly investigate, assess and treat any liver problem.

Did you know that Hepatitis C can now be cured in over 80% of patients with a 6 month course of treatment?

Did you know that liver biopsy is often not needed these days when you can have a fibroscan to assess liver stiffness instead?

Did you know that Hepatitis B can be managed with a once daily tablet that has almost no side effects?

Did you know that fatty liver can cause cirrhosis even if you have never been a heavy drinker?

Did you know that there are treatments for fatty liver and diets that can help the condition?

Did you know that all our patients with liver cancer (HCC) are discussed at a Multidisciplinary Team meeting and management is guided by the expert opinion of multiple specialists?
