Direct Access A faster pathway to your procedure

Our direct access endoscopy pathway allows for eligible patients to be referred directly for colonoscopy and or gastroscopy at Lakeview Private Hospital or Strathfield Private Hospital without prior consultation.

All urgent indications can have a procedure booked within 30 days of referral.

Indications for direct access:

• Positive FOBT (poo test)
• Iron deficiency anaemia
• GI bleeding (bright red or altered blood)
• Family history of polyps or bowel cancer
• Recall/Surveillance procedures
  • Previous polyps or cancer
  • Barrett's oesophagus
  • Reflux

Patients with medical comorbidities, increased risks or unclear indications for scopes will need a review prior.
